Mark in Portland-Wednesday-Elders Please post

Mark in Portland-Wednesday-Elders Please post

Hello everyone in Ashland. I would invite you to respond to this post with comments about how things are going in Ashland. How is the science class going? What kinds of experiments are you doing?

How is the band doing?

What is the weather like?

I am having a great day learning about digital photography and blogging. When this is done, the blogging class, I am going for a run along the Willamette River. I am going to dinner with a college friend I have not seen for 25 years! I am going to be presenting a class on the Blenders on Friday.

Please post a comment as soon as possible, parents and kids...

Thanks,

Mark

This is really cool! I hope you can come back and teach the teachers how do do this neat project.

Enjoy the run!

Hi Mark,

It is very sunny here. You would want to be skiing. The experiments we are doing are about craters. We take two balls drop them in sand or another thing like that. (Soil, baking soda, rice, I don't remember any others.) Then we found out which ball made a deeper "crater". Have fun!

Ryan.

Mark, I don't know how the band is because I'm not in it, but the weather is beautiful! It's hot actually (for me) and the sun is bright and happy. You're missing out. We have recess points, 28 to be exact. Carol said we could earn 50 points, only for 20 minutes of recess. But that's a lot! I'm doing my best not to talk and I think I'm improving. I'm a good girl! The science is going well and so is my play. I'm sitting here eating popcorn while writing to you. Is it fun up there? Oh, by the way I turned in my spellathon money today (Ha Ha.) I'm in the Science fair. River and I. We're doing "Which is healthier for your body; Organic food or non organic?" I think I already know the answer but hey. Well gotta go get ready for Marimbas and then off to the theater. Bye. No smiling No fun. (Ha Ha)

Hi, Mark! The weather is gorgeous - I'm looking forward to skiing on Friday. What hotel are you staying at? How is it? I'm always interested, as I have groups that stay in Portland. In your free time (ha) can you get to the Lewis & Clark exhibit at (surprise) Lewis & Clark College? I hear its great, and am interested in taking Marie & Rob to it (class field trip??!)

Dear Mark;

I just want to say how much I appreciate all the energy and effort you put into the education of our children. I also appreciate your perspective on education, particularly the integration of social activities into the curriculum.

Your recent communication regarding the valentine's day preparations would, I believe, be a good subject for a critical thinking class, exploring the conscious and unconscious assumptions we make when sending and receiving information.

Have a great time in Portland!

Hi Mark the band has not had any more fights as far as I know. We are almost don with the science. We did the actual experiment today.

Mark,

Ellen & Wes here screening the blog before letting Kim check it out! Nice photo, is it real or is it from the web?

Enjoy your conference...

PS: The kids have been proudly coming home without homework all week! We are enjoying some quality time as a family because they don't have homework (ie: watching American Idol tonight at 8:00pm!)

Yo Mark, How's life? Good here. The Band is coming along nicely being that now we have a third electric guitar (courtesy of Niilo) and he thought he was going to quit. lol! (Laugh Out Loud for your information.) We are now working on American Idiot, Beverly Hills, Boulovard of Broken Dreams and we will start holiday on Valintines Day. (What a Kuh-wink-ee-dink. (coincedince)
Anyway, enough 'bout the band. I can't belive the caged zoo-trained groundhog saw his shadow 'cause all the signs here point in the direction of spring. Shorts and tee-shirts (Not new to Niilo), warm, sunny weather and we actually had our first swarm of musquitoes today. The sience project is cool and we constructed our own labs today. Leah and Miles are in my group. MIles was sick so he missed out on all the fun. Our question was: Will a steel marble create a deeper crater in salt or sand. We thought it would go deeper in sand but guess what, it went deeper in sand every time. How awesome is that.

Well I G2G (Got to go) practice my sax then watch the 06 Grammys (The Oscars of music)

Well TTYL (Talk To You Later)

It's Friday afternoon. We've missed you at Walker this week. I'm looking forward to hearing more details of your conference. Unfortunately I've had bronchitis this week and have felt "under the weather." I wonder what that phrase means if you feel ill when it's sunny? Enjoy the weekend.
