Earth Day and May Peace Prevail

Dear Friends and Families of the Blenders and Walker School,

On Friday, April 21, Walker Elementary School will be dedicating their Peace Pole. It is a great occasion for reflection and thought and is also part of the Walker School Earth Day Celebration.

Our world is strife with much violence and sadness... at times it feels like too much and then to look in the eyes of a child... May Peace Prevail, May Peace Prevail in our families, our classroom, our school, our town and our world.

Feel free to offer peaceful and positive words about how we, as individuals and together, can make our world a more peaceful and healthy place for today and the future.

Happy Earth Day and Peaceful Thoughts,

Mark Sherbow

It is wonderful to be in a town where there are many Peace Poles. We can find them at SOU, the COOP. Lincoln School, Soundpeace and now Walker School. The presence of Peace Poles around town offer a visual reminder to take a moment, pause send the wish that everyone live in peace. If we are not feeling peace in ourselves we can wish it for ourselves too.
I have had the opportunity to be at two Peace Pole raisings and it is a heartwarming time when everyone gets together with the same intention to support an attitude of peace, whether it is in our hearts, our homes, our schools, communities...nations..it starts here. Thanks to all who are making it possible to raise the Peace Pole at Walker School!

I think that for more peace we should reduce pollution. We shouldn't build huge houses everywhere.Don't litter also littering is not a good thing becuase animals can eat what you leave on the ground. Also im am glad that a peace pole is going to go up.

I'm happy walker got a peace pole becuase it can remind us of love, and peace, and earth will make us strong, if we give her love and care. And it can remind us to not be lazy and do cummunity servis or not to pulute if we don't have to. And it'll inspire us to work on the gardens son in the spring we can harvest the plants and eat them and pick the flowers for boquets. I can't wait for earth day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

What I think people can do to help is recycle. Like glass bottles, plastic bottles and so on. I know a lot of people recycle in Ashland... KEEP IT UP! Personaly, I think it's kinda fun throwing the glass bottles in the area and watching them crash into the other bottles. So... if you're gonna get a car, what you can do to help the earth is use a hybrid, (I think bike riding is better, but I can't bike to school:( .)
Well I have to go!

There are lots of things that we can do to help our neighborhood.
Like Anna said, recycle. I helps to keep the earth nice and clean and healthy. Besides, who would want a world filled with garbage?

Having a Peacepole at Walker is going to be great! It will remind me of wonderful times at Lincoln for Lincoln had a Peacepole. Having a peaceful life is a great way to live. Right? No one stealing, fighting, cussing, littering, you now. Living together in peace and happiness

I am glad of peace poles because they represent peace (and they're poles) and I like peace and I think the whole world should have it because violence is wrong and there's too much of it.
